I have another blog here: http://toothpick.blogabet.com/

Now I'll try to win money on winter sports.

I will focus on these sports:

Cross country
Biathlon
Ski jumping

And also some picks from these I hope:

Speed skating
Nordic combined
Alpine skiing

Most of my picks will be H2H, because that is what I like best.

If you want to contact me, you can do that at toothpick1984@gmail.com .

Pick:  Russia to beat Norway   Result: Won
Stake:  4/10   Odds:  2.18
Bookmaker:  BetWay   vCash: No
Posted: Feb 16, 2008, 05:02

1 NORWAY
SVENDSEN Emil Hegle
BRATSVEEN Rune
HANEVOLD Halvard
BJOERNDALEN Ole Einar

2 RUSSIA
TCHEREZOV Ivan
KRUGLOV Nikolay
YAROSHENKO Dmitri
TCHOUDOV Maxim

This is very open. Youngsters Svendsen and Bratsveen will do the first two legs. Svendsen won the individual 20 km, and could be too pleased and tired because of that. Bratsveen is a good shooter, but has no experience from this in the World Champs. Bjoerndalen is the best in the world and could of course win this for the norwegians. The russians are extreme shooters, better than the norwegians, and could take this home. I think it's pretty 50/50 who will win this H2H.

Loitzl is very stable. Hilde more unstable, but probably with more potential. I think this is 50/50, I don't trust Hilde 100%, sometimes he is jumping not that good. Loitzl is very reliable and should end around 6-8 place. Hilde 4-10.

Koudelka to beat Jacobsen in the total tournament

Results so far:

Koudelka 504,2
Jacobsen 491,7

The Czech Koudelka has impressed in the first two events, and is number 9 in the total classification. Jacobsen is 11th. I have written more about him in the other pick. Koudelka has 12,5 points on Jacobsen, and should have good chances to keep that lead after the next two events. Nordicbet is again overrating Jacobsen, he needs more time before he is back in the top. I agree more with Expekt, who have 1,55 on Koudelka. It’s a small, small surewin between Nordicbet and Expekt here.

Bardal to beat Jacobsen in the total tournament

Results so far:

Jacobsen 491,7
Bardal 488,5

Anders Jacobsen won the 4 Hills Tournament last season, but is not in the same form this year. He has a big potential of course, it’s typical for Norwegian jumpers to be extreme one season and mediocre after that. Some progress day by day for him after a poor start of the season, he was also slightly injured some week ago. Anders Bardal is also a jumper than can be better than he has shown so far this season. He had some good results in the end of last season, when he also entered the podium in the World Cup. A typical jumper for around 15 place on the lists, ha seldom do very bad jumps and extremely good jumps. Jacobsen has a couple of points on Bardal, but why is he that big favourite here? Because of his name and potential probably. His quality at the moment is not much better than Bardal, even not better at all. I think Bardal should have 40% to beat Jacobsen in the totals here.

Ahonen to beat Schlierenzauer in the total Tournament

Also read my pick on Ahonen to win the whole tournament. Those who disagree can bet on Schlierenzauer at 1,55 at Betsson, it’s a surewin between these two. Unibet is not agree with Expekt, Nordicbet and Betsson who have Schlierenzauer as smaller favourite. I agree with them.

Ahonen to win the total Tournament

The two events in Bischofshofen this weekend will decide who will win the 4 Hills Tournament. No jumping in Innsbruck yesterday because of too much wind, and that event was moved to Bischofshofen. This is the results so far, after the events in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen:

Schlierenzauer 555,1
Morgenstern 551,9
Ahonen 551,7
Hilde 529,6
Neumayer 518,1
Ammann 517,3
Loitzl 515,9
Küttel 506,2
Koudelka 504,2
Malysz 503,5

No distance to talk about between the three in top. For sure one of them will win this tournament. Will the two young Austrians handle the pressure from their fans at home and take the victory? Both of them have great talent. Ahonen is one of the best ski jumpers the world has seen, and has won this tournament four times. He is very experienced for sure. I can’t understand why the two other have so much better chances for winning, so 5,75 on Ahonen is worth a bet. The two Austrians have more extreme potential and should be regarded as bigger favourites than Ahonen, but I think the Finn should have 20%.

Pick:  Germany not to win   Result: Lost
Stake:  4/10   Odds:  2.44

Germany will use Denkinger, Hitzer, Henkel and Wilhelm today. Two of their best, Neuner and Glagow are not participating. Russia could be a winner candidate here, Iourieva is not here either. So could France and Norway if the race is open Denkinger and Hitzer are good biathletes, but could some strange things sometimes. I think the odds are good enough to try on Germany not to win. They will be clear favourites of course, but not that clear.

Pick:  Hjelmeset to beat Teichmann   Result: Won
Stake:  4/10   Odds:  2.20
Bookmaker:  BetWay   vCash: No

Like I already said, this is a stage for Hjelmeset. I don't think Teichmann is in great, great form. He is often best before Christmas, and is form is decreasing through the season. I also doubt his ability in TdS with this many competitions in few days. I rate this as almost 50/50.

Odd-Bjoern Hjelmeset is just like expekted far down on the list so far. He is a really bad skater, but showed good form in the classical prologue, ending as number 3. This is one of his chances to win a stage in this tour, and I think he has good chances getting on the podium at least here. The previous stages has only been som training for him, this is a stage for him. Many good skiers here, but Hjelmeset is one of the best and should be in the top.

Completely open H2H between two Norwegians that disappointed yesterday. Value on Oestensen. Other bookies agree and have around 1.90. Slashed from 2,50, that was great value.
